AU alumnus ’87 Constantine Stavropolous, owner of Tryst and The Diner, is holding a contest for AU students to name his new restaurant in Columbia Heights.
The contest will run until April 4.
The winner will receive a $100 to the restaurant and three gift certificates worth $30 to three other restaurants owned by Stavropolous.
This restaurant will be located at 11th Street and Monroe Street, according to a blog post by Dan Silverman in “Prince of Petworth,” a D.C. neighborhood city blog.
Silverman said the restaurant expects to have a soft opening in August, with an official opening the following month.
The restaurant will be a combination of a diner, bar and coffeehouse to cater to a variety of demographics, Silverman said.
“The menu will consist of comfort food, small plates like you can now get at Tryst, as well as fare you can get from the diner. Eggs all day!” Prince of Petworth said in the blog.
This will be Stavropolous’s fourth restaurant in the District. He opened Tryst in 1998 and The Diner a few years later, both located in Adams Morgan. Open City was the third restaurant he launched on Calvert Street.
