AU adds more variety to meal swipe program

AU will offer more swipes and new meal plan options next school year.

According to Chris Moody, AU’s assistant vice president for Housing and Dining Programs, the changes include:

  • Adding 25 meal swipes to every plan with no price increase
  • Introducing a 50-meal block plan and a 250-meal block plan

AU students will now have eight options for meal plans, instead of six. In addition to 200 Eaglebucks and Dining Dollars, they will pick from a 50, 75, 100,150, 200, 250 or unlimited meal swipe plan.

Adding 25 swipes to every plan will make the overall cost of each swipe decrease.

The Dining Services Project Team, a group of AU students, faculty and staff, studied opinions of current meal plans and requested next year’s meal plans focus on late night options, more meal-swipe flexibility and cheaper plans overall, Moody said.

“The Dining Services program is hopeful that these changes… will entice students to opt to stay on a meal plan and participate in AU’s dining program throughout their years as a student, not just the years when they live on-campus,” Moody said.
