Student launches campus 'daily jolt' Sophomore Ed Davis launched AU's "first student-created online community" in late August.
The site, american.dailyjolt.com, includes daily campus news, weather, menus, restaurant reviews and local event details.
"The American Daily Jolt lets students discuss the topics they want, when they want, while also giving them easy access to relevant campus and local info," Davis said.
Davis said about 100 schools have active and updated "jolts." He said he was inspired to create an AU-based "jolt" after observing the success of similar sites at Johns Hopkins, Layfayette College and Colgate University. He said the site's popularity is growing everyday and the average user views between 35 to 40 pages per day.
"Students decide what gets said on the site and how the site evolves," he said. "There are a lot of directions this can go in, and it all depends on what AU students want."
Margaret Cho to be at Homecoming Comedian Margaret Cho will perform in Bender Arena on Saturday, Oct. 18 as part of Homecoming Week.
This is Cho's third sold-out national tour, Revolution, which was launched last March.
Cho's official Web site says she has been honored for making a difference in promoting equal rights regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity by GLAAD, American Women in Radio and Television and the National Organization for Women, among others.
Tickets will be available in mid-September and are free for AU students, $20 for the general public and $5 for AU graduate students, alumni, faculty and staff.
