"Anthems of Rebellion," Arch Enemy's fifth studio album, is the best metal album since its pervious effort "Wages of Sin" (2001). Released Aug. 26 in the United States, "Anthems of Rebellion" has become this month's number one most added album to College Music Journal stations.
Arch Enemy, featuring a sound that can best be related to a combination of Morbid Angel and Slayer, has continued to create pure metal with "Anthems of Rebellion." America has ignored Arch Enemy's previous albums, but should take notice of this release.
The latest single "We Will Rise" is a collaboration of growling, yet legible lyrics, brutal drums and mesmerizing guitar play. Other notable songs that will tear apart the metal community and make continuous headlines include "Silent Wars," "Instinct" and "Dead Eyes See No Future."
Arch Enemy just began a small U.S. tour to support the release of "Anthems of Rebellion" and performed at Jaxx in Springfield, Va. on Aug. 25. The line to get into the club went around the block, causing many to wait more than an hour to get through the doors. At one recent tour stop, some fans waited five hours to see the Swedish metal band.
The set consisted of both newly released songs and old favorites from all five albums, including "Eureka," "Diva Santanica" and "Let the Killing Begin."
Arch Enemy is considering joining the Jagermeister Tour, featuring Slayer and Hatebreed, which hits Nation Oct. 19.
