Thumbs Up PEPCO, Aramark and TDR workers Despite falling trees, ferocious winds and pouring rain, our PEPCO, Aramark and TDR workers managed to come out to serve us during the hurricane. Although TDR hours were abridged to a weekend schedule and food was running out, our stalwart workers held down the fort as the only place to get food during the hurricane. MPD, Capitol Police and National GuardLike our beloved TDR, Aramark and PEPCO workers, these men and women took to the streets to monitor roads and direct traffic to make our lives easier. Four-Day WeekendAdmit it. Even if you were pissed that you didn't have power, hot water and much food, you were still pretty psyched to not have school for three, and then four days. Thursday Night ParkingJust because your car was smashed by a 900-lb. tree limb doesn't mean that you still had to get a ticket for a parking violation. Kudos to MPD and Public Safety for refraining from ticketing cars during the hurricane.
Thumbs Down D.C. driversWhat's the deal with D.C. drivers? We all understand that you're in a rush and that you can't wait to get home. But we're in a friggin' hurricane! There aren't any working street lights, it's difficult to see with torrential rain and it's hard to keep control of your car with a foot of water on the ground. So, D.C. drivers, keep your cool, slow down and be careful. We're all in this together. No cable, no InternetAlthough there are certain things that are more pressing than going online and watching HBO and ESPN, there aren't many. Next time, let's try to save the cable and the Internet. No power at Tenley campus and Park BethesdaWhile those of us who live on main campus were lucky enough to have TDR, electricity and Internet, students who live in off-campus University housing weren't so lucky. As of press time, students in Park Bethesda still don't have power and may not have power until Thursday. Faster, please. Strange goings-on at TDRWhy is it that you can get out of a class at 4:30, go to TDR and not eat until 5:00? During certain times of the day, when we go to TDR, we can swipe in, but we can't eat. Instead, we're subjected to a thin plastic sheet over the food that's clearly ready to be eaten.
