Director of AmeriCorps Rosie Mauk will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 8:15 p.m. in the Butler Boardroom.
"Mauk will come to American University to talk about the importance of women's leadership and community service and her experiences leading AmeriCorps since 2001," according to the Women & Politics Institute Web site.
AmeriCorps, a national service program, engages 50,000 Americans each year in service to meet communities' needs in education, the environment, public safety, homeland security and other human needs. Before coming to D.C. Mauk served on the Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service from 1995 through 2001.
The event is sponsored by the Women & Politics Institute.
