The 2002-03 American Jurist, the AU Washington College of Law news magazine, was voted the number one law magazine by the American Bar Association.
American Jurist won the honor under the leadership of Shea Scanlon, who was the editor in chief during the 2002-03 winning year.
"I am very proud of Shea, and I hope to continue the tradition that has been set up the past couple of years," said Angela White, the current editor in chief. "Hopefully, this year will continue to be another winning year."
The magazine also received the same honor the year before.
The most recent issue of the magazine includes an interview with Fred Von Lohmann, a senior attorney who works for a legal advocacy group in San Francisco. Von Lohmann spoke on technology and file sharing of copyrighted documents.
Published seven times per year, three times a semester and once during the summer, the magazine is produced, written and edited entirely by students at WCL, according to their Web site. The free publication is editorially independent and has a circulation of 1,200. It is in its 17th year.
The association recognizes the achievements of individual students, publications and schools through its annual awards program.
The association is the largest voluntary professional association with over 400,000 members and provides information and programs to help lawyers and judges in the legal profession
