Sophomore Samantha Facciolo, the first Martin Luther King Jr. grant recipient, received $1,000 for her community service project that will familiarize the college process to a dozen Mexican immigrant students who will visit the University in April. The check was handed to her by Mark Seaman, executive director of the Eagle Endowment for Public and Community Service.
"The College Experience Weekend is a program dedicated to educating immigrant students on the benefits of attending an institute of higher education," Seaman said, "and enables them to realize that it does not matter [what] your background, your race, or even your income, because everyone can go to college"
