About $10,000 was awarded to clubs this semester after the General Assembly, AU's undergraduate student legislature, allotted $20,000 to the AU Club Council to distribute since it felt club programming at AU was most important, according to council chair Evan Wagner.
Among those clubs awarded money were Facilitating Leadership in Youth (FLY), Model United Nations, College Republicans and Alternative Spring Break. These clubs also received funds during the allocation process in the fall.
Most of the clubs who asked for funds received all or almost all they asked for, Wagner said.
Several new clubs are still in the process of receiving funds. The themes of those clubs include baseball, business and visiting exotic coffeehouses in the area.
The funding is used by clubs for programs and events throughout the semester. Each club had to submit a detailed budget to the council to be reviewed in hearings, which came to a close last week. The council oversees all student clubs and organizations separate of the Student Confederation, AU's student government.
