The Walkmen 9:30 club 815 V St. NW Metro: U Street/ Cardoza 7:30 p.m., $12 The self-produced New-York-by-way-of-D.C. indie sweethearts The Walkmen bring their notorious live show back home in support of major label debut "Bows + Arrows." The band, although at an early stage of their career, is already well known for sonically chaotic gigs incorporating brooding, ambitious instrumentation with frontman Hamilton Leithauser's entertaining, drunken banter.

Mary Timony The Black Cat 1811 14th St. NW Metro: U Street/ Cardoza 9 p.m., $9 D.C. native Mary Timony is better known as the mind behind Boston's Helium; however, Timony is an accomplished artist in her own right. With two solo releases on indie all-star label Matador, Timony has shed her punk and noise-pop roots incorporating flutes, mandolins and pianos into her solo work. For fans of Liz Phair and others along those lines, Timony will make for an impressive show.

Crashlander Rhodeside Grille 1836 Wilson Blvd. North Arlington, Va. 21+, $5 9 p.m. Crashlander, a local hard-rock band featuring AU student Mike Pittman on drums will be bringing its AC/DC roots to the Rhodeside Grille in Arlington as part of the Six Points Music Festival. Also playing is Pharmacy Prophets, a D.C. rock band that had the number one downloaded single, "Century," on The Washington Post's mp3 site for over 20 weeks.

Murphy's Law Nation 1015 Half St. SE Metro: Navy Yard $15, 1 p.m. Murphy's Law will headline Sunday's Hardcore Superfest benefit show. Known for the live antics of singer Jimmy Gestapo, Murphy's Law has been pushing out hysterical punk and reggae since before most of us knew how to tie our shoes. If you've yet to experience the mayhem of Murphy's Law live, then this is the perfect chance.
