Film Clips

FAHRENHEIT 9/11 : B+ Michael Moore the movie-maker has lost none of his zeal to provide what educates and entertains and, more importantly, induces audiences to shape their own perceptions. "Fahrenheit 9/11" excels because, like any good political stand-up comic, it entertains over all, and the education is a nice bonus." - Ahmed Nzibo

GARDEN STATE : A "'Garden State' is visually breathtaking with its carefully crafted shots that contain the same form of isolated perfection seen in 'American Beauty.' It is impossible to find fault in Braff's film. Every piece of the filmmaking puzzle fits together so neatly that the resulting picture is almost flawless." - Emily Zemler

HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE : C "Let's hope that 20 years ahead there won't be a bitter Harold and Kumar promoting the release of their seven-disc DVD box set at a cult movie convention in New Jersey, hating each other and, even more, hating the White Castle burgers they've been forced to eat for years since everyone thinks they really like them." - A.N.

HERO : B+ "Filmmaker Yimou Zhang masterfully crafts a universe with beauty and precision. While there are moments throughout "Hero" that scream masterpiece, the overall picture doesn't leave viewers incredibly touched." - Dan Longino

MARIA FULL OF GRACE : B+ "At the very least, 'Maria Full of Grace' is educational. At its best, the film is like its main character - fresh, riveting and strong."- Anne Godlasky

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE : A "Without a doubt the most quotable film of the past few years, "Napoleon Dynamite" is destined for cult status with the likes of "The Big Lebowski" and "Wet Hot American Summer." It's an endlessly pleasing experience that demands several views to soak up all of its creative genius." - D.L.

SPIDER-MAN 2 : A "As audiences follow Peter, Mary Jane and Harry Osborne they are brought back to the feeling that accompanied the first "Spider-Man" and its place in American pop-culture. Director Sam Raimi takes audiences to another universe with this fan film that plays out a circle of events so removed from the general perception of comic books or superheroes." - A.N.

THE VILLAGE : C "Those who don't like scary movies may not venture into the woods for a few days, while seasoned horror film fans will be utterly disappointed in 'The Village.' Certainly, no one should go into it expecting the brilliance of Shyamalan's critically acclaimed 1999 hit, 'The Sixth Sense.'" - A.G.
