Sports Brief: Morgan State, who? Eagles dictate, dominate and destroy in Bender

Senior Natacha Cornaz led the AU Eagles Volleyball squad to a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Morgan State Bears on Tuesday night in Bender Arena.

Cornaz, who has been plagued by injuries all season, tallied a career-high 18 kills. She sparked the Eagles early with six kills in eight attempts in Game 1, and finished the night with only one error in 27 swings.

The Eagles rolled throughout the match against a struggling Morgan State team. Offense was the story for the Eagles as the team compiled a season-high .459 hitting percentage. Morgan State only managed to hit .190 for the match.

Senior setter Courtney Mulford provided another strong effort with 39 assists, the second-most she has recorded in a three-game match all season. Junior Cutrina Biddulph, the PL leader in kills, slammed home 12 on the night. Senior Sabrina Vasconcelos led the defense with 11 of the team's 29 digs.

The win was the fifth straight for the Eagles, who travel to Holy Cross and Army for their last Patriot League road matches of the season this weekend.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
