Thumbs Up

Phi Mu's Big Man on Campus ... Congratulations to Pat Intindola for being named Phi Mu's Big Man on Campus, and congratulations to Phi Mu for raising $1,600 for the Children's Miracle Network.

New Katzen Center director ... AU alumnus Jack Rasmussen was named director of the Katzen Arts Center after months of searching for a curator. It's great to see a successful alumnus come back home to work.

Holiday-flavored foods ... Jones Soda Co. is releasing sodas flavored like mashed potatos and butter, and turkey and gravy. Several ice cream companies annually release pumpkin pie and other holiday-themed flavors. Hey, it's not like we're gonna eat this stuff, but it's nice to have more options.

AU sports domination of Patriot League ... Both the Women's Field Hockey and Men's Cross Country teams have already won Patriot League tournaments. The Men's Soccer team has won its regular-season PL title, and Women's Volleyball is undefeated in league play so far.

Thumbs Down

Weather hypocrites ... We're all cold right now. But we don't want to hear you complain if you're wearing a short skirt, shorts or T-shirt. Watch the Weather Channel, check the Internet, or look out the window. Dress appropriately.

Professors doing things other than teaching ... Anecdotes are fine, but professors should maintain professional decorum in class. That means not discussing your personal life in lectures, and not bringing your personal biases into the classroom. You know who you are.

Michael Phelps charged with driving drunk ... Phelps, a hero to millions after winning six gold medals in the Athens Summer Olympics, may have drastically let down his fanbase after being caught in Maryland. This 19-year-old swimming sensation is a role model to many, and, if convicted, should have known better.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
