Students will have a chance on Wednesday to take a break from their books and try some other food for thought at the library, like at last spring's "Final Perk."
Bender Library will host its second annual "Final Perk," giving free coffee and cookies to attendees.
"It's sort of a 'good-will' effort on behalf of the library for students," said AU senior Nick Banovetz, assistant to the University librarian. "This is the one opportunity for students to have food in the library," he said.
The library will offer Starbucks coffee, homemade cookies and Left Bank Bakery and Caf? food to graduate and undergraduate students.
"Last spring we had about 350 students attend," Banovetz said. "We're expecting over 400 [to attend] this semester."
Extra library staff was hired to help with the event, and reference librarians will be available at the event to answer student questions.
"Final Perk" will be hosted in the reserves reading room on the lower level of the library from 8:30 to 10:30pm on Wednesday.
