D.C. clubs ring in New Year's Eve with high covers

For those staying in town for the holidays, the D.C. club scene tries to offer a little something for everyone looking to party the old year away while ringing in the new.

Nation Nation will feature house, drum-n-bass, new wave, '80s and electronic music from 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Pre-sale tickets are available for $15. For more information, visit www.wanttickets.com. Metro: Navy Yard.

Dream Dream will have an open bar from 7 to 8 p.m. with DJs spinning hip-hop, house, international, Latin, Persian and Top-40 hits. There's also a midnight balloon drop. There are a limited number of $30 tickets available through Ticketmaster. The best way of getting to Dream is by taxi.

Felix Lounge The Felix Restaurant and Lounge in Adams Morgan will feature both live music and DJs. General admission is $25, which includes a champagne toast at midnight. Those with extra bling can pay $120 for a five-hour open bar, or $175 for a four-course dinner and "premium" open bar. Metro: Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan.

Coyote Ugly Ring in the New Year with the coyotes and an open bar special with complimentary champagne. Coyote Ugly, famous for its beautiful bartenders and dancing on the bar, is located across from the MCI Center and includes a rooftop deck and DJ room. Metro: Metro Center.

H2O Located along the waterfront in Southwest D.C., H2O will feature a Las Vegas-style casino and an open bar from 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $30. For more information, visit www.h2odc.com. Metro: Green Line to the Waterfront stop.

Fur D.C.'s newest nightspot, Fur, will offer DJs spinning hip-hop, house, Top 40, retro ('70s through the '90s), Persian, Arabic and Latin music. General admission is $40, with an open bar from 8 to 11 p.m. and a midnight champagne toast. The "all-inclusive VIP ticket" is also offered for $100. Grand Hyatt Washington Celebrate New Years with 3,000 of your closest friends at this giant party. A ticket includes nightlong entertainment, including a DJ, dancing and three live bands, plus an open bar and tapas, dinner and desserts from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Tickets are $139, but prices will increase closer to New Year's. New Year's Eve at the Improv Comedian Jackie Flynn, who has appeared in movies like "Stuck on You" and "Kingpin," will be on stage at the Improv New Year's Eve. The evening will include cheese and crackers and a champagne toast at midnight. Guests will also receive two free passes to a 2005 Improv show. Tickets are $75, and the show starts at 10 p.m. Metro: Farragut North. For more information or tickets, call (202) 296-7008.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will offer its SoberRide service from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on New Year's Eve. Call 1-800-200-TAXI, or #8294 if you have a Cingular cell phone, for a free cab. You must be 21 to use this service and cabs cannot be called in advance.
