Hit List

1. "The Job"

Washington Improv Theater, 10 p.m., $10, Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 5. An ensemble show in which the performers take career suggestions from the audience and craft a story about the trials and tribulations of each one in Washington. Guaranteed to be both funny and cheap!

2. "Ong Bak"

The trailer for this Thailand action flick opening in the United States sometime this year can be viewed at Quicktime.com and boy, is it totally awesome. "Ong Bak," stars Tony Jaa, billed in the trailer as "The Next Bruce Lee," who uses no stuntmen, wires or computer effects in his action sequences. Sweet!

3. "Tom Goes to the Mayor"

The latest "Adult Swim" series chronicles the barely animated adventures of Tom Peters, based on the business help guru of the same name, and the mayor of Jefferton. If you visit AdultSwim.com, you can download an mp3 of "Bear Trap Song" sung by Jack Black and Kyle Gass (better known as the acoustic rock duo Tenacious D) from the series' debut episode. The show is produced and co-written by Bob Odenkirk of "Mr. Show" fame and airs Sunday nights at midnight on Cartoon Network.

4. "Curb Your Enthusiasm"

The brilliant and addictive HBO series starring Larry David, co-creator of "Seinfeld," as himself is one of the best and most innovative shows television has to offer. The third season, which saw its DVD release last Tuesday, features such fabulous improvised dialogue as Larry's agent's wife Suzie calling Larry a "sicko fucko asshole," after he inadvertently gets her 8-year-old daughter drunk and dognaps her German Shepard.

5. Cubano's

Though Silver Spring might seem like lightyears away for some, it's really only a short Metro ride, and the cuisine at Cubano's makes it well worth the ride. Situated in the heart of downtown Silver Spring and just a short walk from the Silver Spring Metro (Red Line), Cubano's has the most authentic Cuban dishes in the D.C. area. Try the masitas de puerco with some sangria and you'll think you've been smuggled into Havana.
