The Career Center kicks of its School of International Service Career Week 2005 today, starting a week of lectures, panel discussions, and an alumni-student networking reception, according to the Career Center Web site.
AU alumni working in intelligence, international relations, national security and other areas are returning to campus to speak to students about how to get started in the fields.
Student interest in SIS Career Week is mixed, and some SIS students weren't aware of SIS Career Week at all.
"I didn't even know about it," said Rachel Wood, a sophomore in SIS.
However, Elena Rubinfeld said the Career Center has helped her look for an internship and that she will participate in SIS Career Week.
"I think I am going to the networking event. I am looking for an internship," said Rubinfeld, a freshman in SIS, "I was thinking about going to 'International Development, Human Rights, and Global Village,' too."
Other students also said they would head to the networking reception for internships or jobs.
"I might go to the networking reception," said Erin Connor, a second-year graduate student in international development.
