The Hit List

Five things worthy of your time

1. NASCAR Sunday's Daytona 500 kicked off NASCAR's incredible nine-month-long season. The Great American Race came complete with performances by washed-up musicians like Five for Fighting and Vanessa Williams, and people dancing around American flags shaped like the good ol' U.S. of A. And the actual races are equally as entertaining. What could be better than watching more than 100,000 people watch a bunch of cars drive around a circle?

2. V-Day Be thankful Valentine's Day is over, and as the "The Vagina Monlogues" took the stage on campus this weekend, it brought a new V-day. This V-day was created in 1998 as a part of Eve Ensler's "Monologues," to work towards ending violence against women. Since its inception V-day activists, called Vagina Warriors, have broght their message in countries from Mexico to Egypt, and has raised more than $25 million.

3. Organic Delivery For those who get their dinners via delivery more often than from TDR, get excited, because a new takeout option has appeared among the cluttered rack of menus that grace the lobby of each dorm. Mr. Chen's Organic Chinese Cuisine delivers organic options of Taiwan Caf? favorites for about the same cost. One drawback - no EagleBuck$ accepted.

4. "CrazySexyCool" This 1994 release by TLC is the one that launched the women into stratospheric fame and gave us plenty of songs for "couples only" skates. "Creep," "Red Light Special" and the ubiquitous "Waterfalls" are only the tip of the iceberg on this essential R&B classic. Revisit this chapter of your youth so that you can now appreciate the adult subject matter and remember T-Boz, Chili and Left Eye the way they were.

5. Chicken Quesadillas in the Tavern Although most food on campus would not be considered palatable, even by refugees floating in Biscayne Bay, there is one reprieve for hungry AU students: quesadillas. Perhaps it's the simpler the better, as far as food goes, since the ingredients are chicken, cheese and tortilla. When in the Tavern, bypass all the crap and ask for the good stuff.
