The vice president is responsible for making sure students have fun, and that is why I am running. I began working with the Student Union Board and the SC during my first week as a freshman. My greatest strength is that I know first-hand how the SC works and how to make it work for you.
It is beneficial if the vice president is an "insider." You need someone who knows the issues at stake and, more importantly, how to get results.
Being an insider who knows the issues, I know that students will only come out to events they want to be at. Students will not come to "Phil Bender" unless they are having fun. Students will gain school spirit as a result of the fun times they have, not the other way around.
As vice president, my top priority is providing the enjoyment and relaxation that every student here deserves and needs. I helped lead the fight to save fall break because hundreds of students e-mailed me saying 12 weeks without a break is too long.
The greatest asset I will bring to the office of the vice president is my communication skills. It is essential to know what the students want and to act accordingly. I promise an amazing Homecoming that will have the Founder's Day Ball as part of the celebrations.
We need a strong and committed leader who also knows the academic policy challenges we face and is prepared to fight for the students. As chairman of academic review, I fought and won many battles to empower student voice.
As vice president, I will lead an SC that reaches out to hear the voice of every student, and I will make this year memorable for every student through the fun I will provide.
