My name is Ali Khan and I am a finance major in Kogod. I am running for comptroller to make sure your money is efficiently managed and to hold the SC accountable for its decisions. I am about the students, not the special interests.
I think our student government can be improved. I currently serve as associate comptroller. While in this position I have come to realize that certain initiatives need to be implemented. The SC has a budget of almost $600,000, and yet sometimes you get the feeling that you don't benefit from those funds. I don't blame you.
We must place the students first, since it is their dollars we spend. Payroll reform is crucial for the financial future of the SC. I will fight for payroll reform because the monies saved through this program can benefit organizations like the Student Union Board and the Kennedy Political Union.
I would lobby the SC to increase its outreach efforts. People always talk about school spirit, and yet the SC's budget clearly shows that the priorities are different.
I want to work with students and campus organizations to create a fair and equitable budget. The budget is the financial blueprint and we must make it an open process. Transparency is important.
Students don't want the SC to spend its money on name changes. Students dont' want the SC to spend their money to pay a professional parliamentarian.
As comptroller I will execute monthly audits on SC accounts to make sure expenditures are benefiting students.
AUTO can do better. The new technology system is a move toward the right direction. I will appoint a qualified commissioner whom I will work closely with to guarantee results.
I will never quit on the student body. I will always serve its best interests.
