Sony PlayStation 3 chip unveiled, to be shown before E3 Engineers from Sony, Toshiba and IBM last week unveiled the chip that will be at the core of the PlayStation 3. Known as the Cell processor, the chip will have nine processor cores and run faster than four gigahertz. In less technical terms, this means Playstation 3 will have the power to render insanely sweet graphics.

Sony also recently revealed that Playstation 3 will be first shown to the public sometime before E3, the annual video game exposition in Los Angeles. E3 will be held this year from May 18 to 20.

Five Sony PSP launch games to be playable online Sony recently confirmed that five of the launch games for its upcoming handheld PSP will be playable via the system's wireless Internet capabilities. The titles are "MLB," "NBA," "Gretzky NHL," "ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails" and "Twisted Metal: Head-On." Not only will gamers be able to play their friends standing right next to them (as on Nintendo's Game Boy Advance), but also play perfect strangers over the Internet via wireless hotspots, like on AU's campus.

"Batman Begins" game to feature movie cast Nearly the entire cast of the upcoming summer blockbuster "Batman Begins" will appear in a video game offshoot of the same name. Christian Bale (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Michael Caine (Alfred), Morgan Freeman (industrialist Lucius Fox), Liam Neeson (Wayne's mentor Henry Ducard), Katie Holmes (love interest Rachel Dawes), Tom Wilkinson (mob boss Carmine Falcone) and Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) signed on to do voices. "Batman Begins" will ship on June 17, the same day the movie hits theaters.

Doomed for delay The long-awaited Xbox version of "Doom 3" and the PC expansion "Resurrection of Evil" have been pushed back a month, according to a recent Activision and id Software press release. They will appear on store shelves simultaneously April 4.
