Metro brief: Man tackled at Capitol to be deported

A 33-year-old Australian man was tackled in front of the Capitol Monday for standing in a fountain facing the building's west side.

Wenhao Zao was found Monday with two briefcases by police, who snuck up on Zao and tackled him to the ground. Zao was unresponsive despite one request to see the president, according to cbsnews.com.

Zao's request and black clothing set off alarms, which caused the SWAT team to arrive.

"He was not very responsive," said U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer in a cbsnews.com article. "The officer felt it was a possible suicide bomber."

Officers spent three hours investigating Zao's briefcases, including blasting them with a water cannon.

According to The Washington Post, Allan Doody, special agent in charge of the Washington field office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Zao will be sent back to Australia in the coming days.
