AU senior Juan Jaysingh won recognition as the Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Month for March, league officials announced Tuesday.
As the team's only senior, Jaysijngh normally plays in the No. 3 singles position, and he went 5-2 in his singles matches for the month. In doubles, Jaysingh normally pairs with sophomore Jeffrey Schnell at the No. 3 spot. The pair has gone 9-2 so far this season.
"Juan has been invaluable to us this year on and off the court," AU head coach Kyle Bailey told www.AUEagles.com. "He's a great leader, and we are pleased to see his hard work paying off."
Jaysingh took a red shirt last season after an injury left him incapable of playing for most of the year.
In a year, Jaysingh went from being one of six seniors on the team in a championship season to the only senior on a team that learned its program is to be eliminated after the 2006 season.
