600,000 PSPs sold in first week
Sony Computer Entertainment America said 600,000 PSPs were sold in the first week of availability after the game console was launched on March 24, creating $150 million in revenue. Sony had anticipated selling all 1 million systems shipped to North America in 24 hours, but analysts said the launch was still a solid one. Sony is still very optimistic about the PSP's future.
'Half-Life 2' expansion in the works
Valve Software, creators of the popular "Half-Life" series for PC, confirmed to Gamespot that an expansion for "Half-Life 2" is on the way. Titled "Aftermath," the game takes place immediately following the events of "Half-Life 2." The game is being developed internally at Valve, unlike the expansions to the original "Half-Life." Valve did not give a release date, but it should be announced in a few weeks.
Coppola voices displeasure with upcoming 'Godfather' game Francis Ford Coppola, director of the "Godfather" movies, recently expressed his distaste for the upcoming video game version on the American Movie Classics show "Sunday Morning ShootOut." Coppola said he knew nothing about the game until publisher Electronic Arts sent him a preview build.
"They use the characters everyone knows, and then for the next hour they shoot and kill each other," news wires quoted Coppola. "I had absolutely nothing to do with the game, and I disapprove."
Connery to lend voice talent to new James Bond game
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed recently that Sean Connery will provide the voice of James Bond in EA's next 007 video game, "From Russia with Love." The video game is based on the 1963 James Bond movie of the same name.
"As an artist, I see this as another way to explore the creative process," he told the Reporter. "Video games are an extremely popular form of entertainment today, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all fits together"
