'Quake 4' on the way Activision and Raven Software last week released some new information on the long-awaited first-person shooter sequel "Quake 4." The game picks up after the events of the second "Quake," involving once more a cybernetic alien warrior race called the Strogg. Players play as Earthling Matthew Kane, an elite soldier involved in the conflict between two worlds. "Quake 4" has long been in development, but no release date has been announced.
'Doom' movie delayed Universal Pictures said last week that the movie translation of the classic first-person shooter franchise "Doom" has been delayed until the fall. Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak ("Cradle 2 the Grave"), the movie stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban ("The Bourne Supremacy"). The movie is loosely based on the plot of "Doom 3," in which a portal to Hell is discovered on Mars.
'Tales of Legendia' announced for PS2 Namco's latest role-playing game in its "Tales" series will be heading exclusively to the Sony PlayStation 2 in winter 2006. The RPG will feature an epic storyline and real-time action. Some of the members of Namco's "Soul Calibur" team are working on the internally developed "Tales of Legendia." Kazuto Nakazawa, who did the animation segment in "Kill Bill Vol. 1," has designed the characters for "Legendia."
'Halo 2' patch on the way Bungie announced an update for its mega-hit "Halo 2," available today. The second patch released for the first-person shooter will tweak several aspects of gameplay to create a more balanced experience, while also fixing several bugs and glitches discovered since the game's release.
