Ladner can't lead university, trustees say

Students protest board meeting

Posted 9/28/05 7:55 p.m.

Hundreds of students crowded the tunnel around 5 p.m. demanding suspended President Ben Ladner's resignation and protesting the board of trustees meeting that took place today in the Butler Conference Room. Protesters blocked all entrances to the room, and about 20 students were invited in to the meeting to speak to the board.

Students asked board members how Ladner's spending was allowed to get so out of hand, and asked each trustee if he or she supported Ladner's return to the university. All seven of the board members present said they didn't support his return.

"No human would want to return to a situation like this," trustee David Carmen said.
