A red light camera and two new speed cameras were activated Friday in D.C. as part of the city's expansion of traffic photo-enforcement, according to
The Examiner.
The red light camera will survey northwest-bound traffic at Florida and New York Avenues in Northeast. The new speed cameras will monitor westbound traffic on the 600 block of New York Avenue Northeast and the 3400 block of Benning Road Northeast.
Drivers caught breaking traffic laws at the three new locations will be issued warnings until Oct. 15, after which they will be fined.
Fines for speeding can be as high as $200, while running a red light will cost drivers $75.
The district now has a total of 10 stationary speed cameras, 12 mobile photo-radar vehicles that are moved throughout the city and 49 red light cameras.
