Concern has been expressed about the impact the probe of President Ladner's finances will have on the school's fundraising.
AU has done an amazing amoutn of fundraising under Ladner, recently passing the twenty percent mark of alumni contributing. Provost Kerwin, who is acting president for the time being, has not said anything about any fundraising activities he's been involved in.
We are encouraged that donors so far have not been afraid to continue to fund the univeristy, despite the bad press it has been receiving lately. They should be applauded for realizing that the school is bigger than one person, and that much can still be accomplished.
The administration should be careful, however. Students have seen the value of an AU diploma mature rapidly recently, and do not want to see a drop in its value. We are proud of our school and its achievements as of late, and hope to see better things in the days ahead.
While the school is bigger than one man, it should be remembered that he who can be trusted with little things can then be trusted with much.
