In the Sept. 26 issue of the Eagle, due to an information gathering error by the SG, information was wrongly reported and attributed in the article concerning AUTO and the Park Bethesda shuttle service.

Due to cuts by Housing and Dining Services to the shuttle service budget, AUTO will provide supplemental shuttle service to Park Bethesda.

Student Government Comptroller Zach Ulrich said in an email to the Eagle that he is still trying to figure out the cost of this venture. However, he wanted to clarify that AUTO is not responsible for hiring drivers for the shuttles, only for providing the vans and certifying the drivers.

According to Ulrich, the responsibility of hiring drivers falls on the Student Government and the Residence Hall Association. He said that scheduling will be a joint venture among the SG, RHA and AUTO. "The SG and RHA are still trying to finalize details about who will be responsible for payroll drivers for the shuttles, what vans AUTO can provide, and the schedule on which AUTO can provide the vans," Ulrich said.

Ulrich also said AUTO will not be providing regular shuttle services to or from Park Bethesda to any on-campus events. SG President Kyle Taylor made this statement previously to the Eagle. AUTO will be providing augmented shuttle service for on-campus events on a case-by- case basis, Ulrich said.

In regards to the Sept. 26 article 'Collegiate women putting careers on hold, raising children,' Emily Caponetti stresses that choosing whether or not to raise children is a deeply personal choice. She urges that the Bush administration should offer more help for women and children, in terms of prenatal, postnatal and childcare, so that women would not have to choose between children and careers.
