Field hockey escapes Worcester still unbeaten

Irene Schickhardt's overtime heroics kept the AU women's field hockey team undefeated, as the No. 5 Eagles (15-0, 3-0 Patriot League) defeated Holy Cross, 3-2 Saturday.

Schickhardt, a freshman, scored an unassisted goal with just four minutes left to send the game into overtime. Seven minutes into the overtime period, Schickhardt scored the game-winner on a one-timer, assisted by senior Maureen Daniel.

Tara Welch opened the scoring for Holy Cross nine minutes in. Junior Camila Infante tied it in the 56th minute when she slammed home a rebound.

Laura Cohen scored off of a penalty corner three minutes later as Holy Cross took back the lead.

Women's soccer draws, loses on the road.

The AU women's soccer team gained a point in the Patriot League standings with a 1-1 tie against Lafayette. The Eagles (5-9-2, PL 2-2-2) failed to strengthen their grasp on the fourth and final tournament spot as they fell to first-place Lehigh, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Friday night, freshman Lindsey Miller gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead four minutes into the second half off a pass from junior Jana Lee. Lafayette tied the game six minutes later on a goal by Caroline Tuttle. The Eagles outshot the Leopards 24-10.

Sunday, Christin Johnson put Lehigh up 1-0 just five minutes into the game. Daniela Molina scored Lehigh's second goal in the 78th minute.

Volleyball cruises through PL road weekend

The AU women's volleyball team continued their successful Patriot League season, as they easily won both of this weekend's games, 3-0.

On Friday night, the Eagles (17-8, 9-1 PL) defeated Colgate 30-22, 30-24, 30-16. Senior Cutrina Biddulph led AU with 16 kills, while senior Jennifer Cosco scooped 16 digs.

Saturday night, the Eagles won their third game in five days, over Bucknell, 30-17, 30-18, 30-25.

Biddulph and freshman Rubena Sukaj led AU's offense, combining for 29 kills. Freshman Christine Nash blocked two shots and added five digs.
