Screening: The Peacekeepers 7:30-9 p.m., Ward 1. The Peacekeepers is a powerful new documentary about the United Nations Peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It documents the struggle to save "a failed state," taking the viewer back and forth between the United Nations headquarters in New York and events on the ground in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from summer 2002 until spring 2004. "Afghanistan: Reconstruction and Responsibility" 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., SIS lounge. Panelists, who will explore the educational efforts in Afghanistan, include Vijitha Eyango of USAID, Ed Kissam with Aguirre International, and Maryam Qudrat with the Afghanistan embassy. Haydn: The Creation Through Dec. 4, 8 p.m., Katzen Arts Center, Recital Hall. One of the greatest oratorios of all time, Haydn's The Creation presents a vivid portrait of the seven days of creation depicted in the Bible and Milton's Paradise Lost. Jesus Manuel Berard conducts the AU symphony orchestra, while Daniel Abraham directs the AU chorus. "U.S. Policy Toward Africa: Old Challenges, New Opportunities" 10 a.m.-noon, Butler Board Room. Jendayi Frazer, assistant secretary for African Affairs, Department of State; Jeannine Scott, Africare; Melvin Foote, Constituency for Africa; and AU professors Fantu Cheru and Peter Lewis will speak. Turner Classic Movies and AU SOC present Dean Screen: Carol Reed's classic film "The Third Man" An edgy noir thriller with great performances by Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton.
