To celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., AU students volunteered at the Washington Center for the Aging among other places. Students joined the residents in playing civil rights bingo, helping them re-live our not too distant history.
AU has many groups who live and breathe service, and it is good to know that they are getting out into the community and helping Dr. King's Dream remain alive. Some of those groups represent our school's Greek life population. Greek organizations are sometimes lookeddown upon and stigmatized as nothing more than social groups, but often forgotten is their dedication to philanthropic service. On campus, a concert was held at which AU's gospel choir performed, and a check for $1,000 was presented by the Alpha Nu Omega to help bring D.C. studnets to campus to educate them about career opportunities.
All students and members of the AU community who participated should be commended and hopefully will live each day in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King.
