The hit list

Five things worthy of your time

1. SNL best of Alec Baldwin on DVD

Some know this brightest Baldwin star only as Mr. Jack Ryan, CIA agent assigned to snag back an atomic sub from the Russkies, or the Shadow, '50s pulp anti-hero. But the man has comic timing, as illustrated by this collection. Baldwin now joins the ranks of SNL staples such as Farley, Farrell, Fallon and Spade.

2. Alternative Apparel

Alternative Apparel is a sweatshop-free clothing company that, unlike certain other trendy hipster brands (ahem, American Apparel) doesn't partake in union busting or have a sexual harassment suit pending against it's CEO. The clothes are all blank, making them screen-printer friendly and conducive to art projects. By some clothes, do some good and make some sweet wearable art. It's a hit!

3. WVAU regular programming

Three cheers! Everyone's favorite American University student radio station is back! For those keeping score, WVAU is in its second semester of a grand experiment- a new format. With the same shows staying at the same slot everyday of the week with a rotating cast of hosts, the station hopes to garner listener loyalty and campus popularity. Way to go, guys! And godspeed.

4. Plastic Surgery

There's something heartwarming about seeing someone overcoming the shackles of obesity and flaunting his or her new hot bod all over the covers of grocery store impulse-buy magazines. Ugh. Star Jones lost over half her body weight after a gastro-bypass procedure. Way to go, girl! Way to hate the way you were born and becoming another emaciated body. Maybe you can get down to double digits and win a medal.

5. Drew Lachey (Dancing with the Stars)

We all know the cooler, hotter, more talented Lachey brother Nick, the one with the show. But remember 98 Degrees? Well, just to the left of Nick, just in front of the weird looking balding guy, was Drew, just hanging out. Well, apparently Drew has just been biding his time, because this cat can dance!
