The Eagle

Staff editorial: Facebook and AU

The popular website among college students has been attracting new clientele as of late. Incoming freshmen and employers are now logging on to Facebook.

Some AU students have not been welcoming to the future eagles. An anti-class of 2010 group has sprung up with 25 members. We don't understand why current students are spending their time creating opposition groups.

Something that should have current Facebook users worried. Employers, the FBI among them, has begun to ask students about pictures and quotes posted on their profiles. While we agree it's awkward to be asked questions about Facebook, the right to privacy does not jive with willingly putting potentially embarassing pictures online.

But can students really expect the right to privacy when they brazenly post pictures of last week's kegger and that panty party with the girls in the room next door? Next time you take 30 photos of you and your Solo cup that is filled with "orange juice," remember you always have the option to remove the tag.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
