Staff editorial: Park Bethesda plans

The university's apartment builiding is suffering from low occupancy and has become more of a liabiility than a cash cow. Housing and Dining has moved to remedy this, announcing management changes.

Students will from now on be required to sign one year leases, as opposed to having the option for nine months. This is unfair since many people are attracted to Park Bethesda because they can rent for school months only.

Also, the rent is extremely high. Nearly $2,000 a month for these apartments is overboard. It would be one thing if the apartment was in Dupont, but Park Bethesda borders a cosmic bowling alley. Shuttle issues have never been resolved. On Sunday, students are bascially stranded.

Now that AU wants to open up the building to the outside community the question is who would want to live with a bunch of college students? The building is nice enough, but in an awful location. Who wants to live in the middle of a field?

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
