Rob Boisseau Class of 2006 Undergraduate Senator Junior, SPA and CAS Annapolis, Md.
In brief:
Too often, candidates will disregard their responsibility to offer real information about their campaigns, instead posturing and offering pretty words about their qualifications that run short beyond the first. My name is Rob Boisseau, a junior in SPA and CAS. I offer you my platform, for your consideration and vote. You'll find it at robboisseau.blogspot.com, which is a particularly good site for wasting time in class.
Weekly executive reports, voting member on the board of trustees, more SUB/KPU events, Public Safety oversight, review of alcohol policies, student legal services, expand Eagle Bucks locations and Health Center hours, examine ticketing policy, AU-only Craig's List, rethink AUCC organization, end Student Government isolation, actual Greek relations. This isn't "Indecision 2006." Decide on Rob Boisseau, a leader for a change.
Ashley Mushnick College Democrats President Junior, SPA Haddonfield, N.J.
In brief:
I want to make the SG more relevant to student needs. I'll get you feasible discounts that AU faculty have, like free Microsoft Office, and I plan to expand Eagle Bucks vendors not just in Tenleytown, but in hip spots downtown. We need more than a vote on the board of trustees - I'll engage you in the conversation by publicly responding to every policy decision they make. Your clubs need more services from the SG. I'll lobby for the many that don't get the money they deserve. I'm Ashley and I'm running for the SG President. Check out my plans to better serve you at ashleymushnick.com.
Joe Vidulich Student Government Secretary Sophomore, SPA Oceanside, N.Y.
In brief:
As president, Joe wants to use the relationships he has established as SG secretary to raise the volume of the student voice. Joe wants to work with, not against or on behalf of, the administration of American University to make the voice of the student body heard. For the first time ever, Joe plans to pull in members from the campus community to be reviewing old budgets and developing a proactive stance on the budget.
Joe also hopes to use the SG as a focal point for creating school spirit. By helping to publicize events put on by athletics and other campus organizations, Joe wants to bring students together to appreciate what binds them together as students of AU.
Pat McGill Class of 2008 Senator Sophomore, SPA Langhorne, Pa.
In brief:
If I'm elected vice president, my main priority will be to engage students with programs such as Eagle Game Days and Quad Wars that they would actually want to go to.
How would you like to improve the effectiveness of your office?
To improve the effectiveness of the Office of the Vice President, I'd make sure to reach out to clubs and other organizations to see what their specific concerns are and what programs they would want to be a part of. I will not be isolated on the second floor of Mary Graydon. I would be listening to and engaging regular students.
Katie Myers Class of 2008 Undergraduate Senator Sophomore, SPA Staten Island, N.Y.
In brief:
My goal if elected is to unite the SG with the rest of the campus community. A great way to do so is through programming. No one gets excited about events anymore even if they happen to be for their own organization. I plan to change that through weekly meetings with the AUCC, Greeks and athletics. These meetings will foster opportunities for co-sponsorship and allow for the campus to unite over fun and inventive programming. I also want to spruce up Founders Week. It is obvious that the majority of the campus does not attend the Founder's Day Ball, and I want to change that by creating incentive for attending, such as give-aways and a larger add campaign to raise awareness about the event.
