Lacrosse loses to Hopkins, but 3-0 in PL
The AU women's lacrosse team fell to No. 3 Johns Hopkins Sunday, but beat Villanova Saturday to stay undefeated in the Patriot League.
The Blue Jays (6-0) scored the first ten goals of the game in Baltimore on the way to a 15-7 win over the Eagles.
Sophomore Jackie Lane led AU with four goals, while sophomore Chelsea Kapp scored two.
AU toppled Villanova Saturday, 11-4, to stay undefeated in Patriot League play.
The Eagles (4-6, 3-0 PL) began the game with a 2-0 deficit. But they then scored six unanswered goals past the Wildcats (3-6,0-3) on the way to the rout.
AU outscored Villanova 7-2 in the second half to ensure the win.
Jackie Lane led the Eagles with three goals and an assist. Junior Caithlin Gorman and sophomore Lauren Lane each added two goals.
Women's tennis loses PL pair
The AU women's tennis lost its first two Patriot League matches of the season at Army and Bucknell last weekend.
The Black Knights topped the Eagles, 5-2, on Friday. Junior Julia Colarusso earned a victory in the No. 1 singles match with an 8-6 set win. Sophomore Malvina DeLaCanal won, 2-0 (7-5, 7-5) at the second spot.
The Eagles fell, 4-2, to the Bison Friday. DeLaCanal hammered out a tough 2-1 win, taking sets, 3-7, 6-3, 10-7. Senior Brandi Kligman picked up the other singles point by winning, 2-1 (6-2, 6-2).
