Staff editorial: E-textbooks: a new take on the original

The campus bookstore has begun offering e-textbooks, which allow you to read course materials on your computer.

While it may be convenient and sometimes cheaper, e-textbooks would require you to print out pages if you want to take them with you, and this makes highlighting and marking tedious. Also, you cannot resell them like you can textbooks. We believe that any money saved in the purchase will be sapped from you for printing and the like.

As much as you may hate your psychology book, there is something to be said for holding a book in your hands and being able to throw it in your backpack or purse and take it with you. With computers you need power and they tend to weight significantly more than a novel.

Our chilren and grandchildren may live in a world where e-books are the norm, but we just don't see it catching on right now.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
