Sports brief: Lacrosse loses last Patriot League match of season

The AU women's lacrosse team's offense fell flat when it managed just one second-half goal as the Eagles fell, 14-5, at Bucknell Saturday.

It was the fifth consecutive loss for AU (5-11, 3-3 Patriot League), which clinched the third seed in next weekend's conference tournament.

It was also AU's third straight PL loss.

Junior midfielder Sarah Milewski led the Eagles with two goals, both scored in the first half, to cut Bucknell's lead to one about 10 minutes into the game.

They tied the game at 4-4 on senior midfielder Moriah Linnell's tally late in the first half, but the Bison (7-9, 3-3) went on a 10-1 run to finish the match.

AU earned the third seed via coin toss, which ended up giving Bucknell the fourth seed. The Eagles will face second-seeded Colgate Saturday in the PL tournament, which is hosted by Holy Cross.

Section 202 hosts Connor Sturniolo and Gabrielle McNamee are joined by fellow Eagle staff member and phenomenal sports photographer, Josh Markowitz. Follow along as they discuss the United Football League and the benefits it provides for the world of professional football.
