Bender Library will host its end-of-the-semester Final Perk this Wednesday from 8-10 p.m. in The Mud Box, which will include a movie, giveaways and free coffee and cookies for students.
"We're kind of going all out for this," said Nick Banovetz, assistant to the librarian. "There's tons more food than we've ever had."
The library holds the event as an "outreach event to students to show our appreciation for supporting the library," Banovetz said. "We appreciate feedback and comments from students that help guide the library."
This year, the theme of the Final Perk is "Randomness," according to Banovetz and Sam Reggio, a library monitor. The napkins will "get people's attention," they said.
The library is ordering more than 1,000 cookies from Breadline Cafe, voted by Washingtonian magazine as the best cookies in D.C. Last semester, about 750 students attended the event.
Brad Swain, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, said Final Perk is a good chance for students to calm down before finals.
"Giving students the cookies and coffee gives them a chance to de-stress during a very stressful time period, and as an added bonus you can also talk with your friends and talk with them before everyone departs for the year," he said.
The library has sponsored the Final Perk since Fall 2003. This is the sixth Final Perk.
