OUTGOING: MEGAN SLACK
To say that I've learned a great deal from my term as editor in chief would truly be an understatement. I've learned so much about journalism, about working with other student leaders, about late nights in the Eagle's Nest and more about the AU board of trustees than I could have ever imagined I would. From covering governance issues, to health code violations in TDR, to campus-wide events, I am grateful to have had this opportunity to serve the AU community.
The campus paper plays an important role in opening and maintaining a dialogue for the varied opinions and viewpoints of students on campus, and as I pass the role of editor in chief on to my successor, I look forward to serving as the editorial page editor in the coming year. Thanks for making the last one such a rewarding experience.
INCOMING: MARISSA NEWHALL
As incoming editor in chief, I'm committed to making The Eagle a more effective news source for the people it serves most directly: AU students. Lots of exciting changes are in store for the coming year, including a layout redesign, increased campus coverage and an all-new and improved TheEagleOnline.com.
But we can't do it without you. Since starting at The Eagle, I've seen our paper cover big changes in both world events and AU's administration - but our readers are still most important. By implementing proposed Eagle blogs for both news and The Scene and establishing a larger presence in the university community, I hope to significantly boost reader interactivity and improve The Eagle's news-delivering capacities.
As always, I encourage all Eagle readers to submit comments, feedback and letters to the editor to editor@theeagleonline.com. After all, no matter how hard our staff works to bring you the latest on campus, Metro and national events, the only way The Eagle can serve you better is to know what you'd like to see.
Thanks in advance for a wonderful year. See you in the fall!
