The Princeton Review recently ranked AU the most politically active campus in America.
Sure, AU students are politically active throughout the city. They intern on the Hill and throughout the district in lobbying and special interest groups. Packs of students atttend national rallies protesting the war in Iraq and genocide in Darfur. :
But the same could be said for students at George Washington and Georgetown Universities, who ranked at number 8 and number 15, respectively.
What makes AU students really politically unique is their dedication to political causes on campus. Last year alone students launched a protest on the quad and campus-wide petition drive for cage-free eggs in TDR and reacted to the Ben Ladner scandal with protests on the quad and sit-ins at Board of Trustees meetings.
The Princeton Review compiles the rankings based on student surveys taken online over a period of three years. Many universities know about this and encourage their students to take the survey, but AU students can be proud that the results submitted by the student body, without administrative prompting, were enough to beat the competition. Even Georgetown.
