Senate appoints Judicial Board members

The Undergraduate Senate confirmed three new members to the Judicial Board Sunday to prepare for the upcoming fall elections.

Former Student Government Secretary Joe Vidulich was confirmed to chair the Judicial Board, replacing Class of 2006 graduate Marlon Brown. The chair position is a joint appointment by the SG president and the speaker of the Senate.

Former School of Public Affairs Senator Elliot Friedman and former clerk of the Senate Claire Kurtz were also confirmed to the Judicial Board as associate members. Brian Brown, a senior in SPA, was appointed an associate member last fall by former SG President Kyle Taylor.

There are two positions remaining on the Judicial Board - the last associate member, who will be nominated by the speaker of the Senate, and the parliamentarian, who will be appointed by President Ashley Mushnick.

According to the SG bylaws, the Judicial Board is "the final authority on the procedure and governing documents of the Student Government."

Information sessions for the Senate and Class of 2010 elections will be held next week, with all forms due by 8 p.m. Oct. 1. Fall campaigns kick off Oct. 1 after all forms are submitted and continue until Oct. 9 when polls open.

Voting ends Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. The results will be announced later that night.

DVD rental service now available for use

Student Government President Ashley Mushnick recently announced on the SG Web site that a new DVD rental service with hundreds of movies and TV shows is now available for AU students.

The service, called Eagleflicks.com, will operate 24 hours a day from a kiosk in the Mary Graydon Center lobby. The collection includes new and classic releases. There are also volumes of TV shows such as "Entourage" and "Grey's Anatomy," Mushnick said.

Rentals will cost $2.85 each and are due back by midnight the following day. Late returns will run an additional 79 cents per day, according to Eagleflicks.com. Students can use EagleBuck$ with an AU ID or credit card as payment.
