District officials chose developers Thursday to transform the waterfront area from the 12th Street Bridge to Fort McNair into a vibrant area full of housing, restaurants and nightclubs, according to The Washington Post.
The developers, PN Hoffman and Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, plan to invest over $800 million into making the waterfront a park-like setting complete with a promenade, according to The Post.
"It's a golden opportunity to have the neighborhood embrace the waterfront," Monty Hoffman, head of PN Hoffman, told The Post.
Building is expected to begin in 2009 and will take 10 years to complete, The Post reported.
