Track runs GMU Patriot Games

Led by wins from Brendan Fennell, Steve Hallinan and Awit Yohannes, the AU men's track team pulled off a top-five finish at the George Mason Patriot Games this weekend.

Running the 1,000 meter for the first time in his AU career, Fennell finished with a winning time of 2:26.77, good enough for the fifth-fastest time in school history. Junior Brian McCabe also placed in the 1,000 meter, taking hold of third with a time of 2:29.15.

Hallinan ran his second-fastest race of his career and completed his fourth win of this season in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:12.93.

Senior Yohannes took the Eagles' third win of the day with a time of 4:11.97 in the mile, both his personal best and the tenth-fastest time in school history.

Senior Conor Lanz finished fifth in the mile at 4:17.52 and senior Dustin Emrani lent a helping hand in the Eagles' success with another top-five finish in the 800 meters. Emrani placed third in his race with a time of 1:57.10.

On the women's side, senior Ashley Dellinger and junior Cathleen Ford each finished in the top-10 of their events. Dellinger took fifth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:22.18, both a personal best and the third-fastest time in school history. In the mile, Ford ran 5:11.44, taking hold of the fifth-fastest time in AU history.

The Eagles next prepare for races at both the Millrose Games and the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City starting next Friday.
