Eagle Sports brief: Track competes at PL Championships

On the final day of the Patriot League Championships on Sunday, the American University men's track team won league titles in the 800, 1,000 meters and mile, placing fourth in the team standings.

AU swept the top four spots in the mile, led by junior Brendan Fennell, who took first with a final time of 4:06.67. Junior Steve Hallinan followed him in second with a time of 4:08.76, and junior Brian McCabe and senior Awit Yohannes placed third and fourth, respectively.

Senior captain Dustin Emrani set a league record and indoor personal best in winning his third consecutive 800m title. Fellow senior Alex Caudana took third for the second straight year with a personal best time of 1:53.37.

McCabe captured his first PL individual title in the 1,000m. Hallinan participated in the event as well, but withdrew two laps into the race with an ankle injury.

The women's team, represented only by Meghan Mason in the 5,000m, placed eighth at the meet.
