Andre Ingram led all scorers with 15 points and AU scored 38 points in the second half to pull away for a 64-49 victory over Army on Wednesday night at Bender Arena.
The Eagles led by just three points early in the second half, but broke the game open with a 20-4 run that was capped off by back to back three-pointers by Arvydas Eitutavicius and Garrison Carr.
"It's nice to not have a game go down to the last possession," Coach Jeff Jones said.
Doug Williams led the Black Knights with 13 points and 11 rebounds, but was unable to prevent Army from suffering its sixth loss in a row after starting out 3-2 in the Patriot League.
Starting forward Brayden Billbe scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Eagles, while point guard Derrick Mercer added 10 points to help AU avenge a 60-55 loss on Jan. 17 at West Point, N.Y.
"They are right below us in the standings," Billbe said. "We needed this win to help secure that home playoff game"
