Metro brief: Tenleytown hardware store robbed

District police continued to search yesterday for a woman suspected of being involved in the Tuesday robbery of a Tenleytown hardware store, according to NBC4.com.

A group of men reportedly robbed the Ace Hardware store, located in the 4500 block of Wisconsin Avenue N.W., after assaulting a store employee who had gone outside to dispose of some garbage. The men demanded money from the store's safe and left with about $1,000 in cash, NBC4.com reported.

The men and a woman who drove the group's getaway car abandoned the vehicle at 29th and Ordway streets N.W. after being pursued by police. After a short pursuit, Second Police District Cmdr. Andy Solberg took one suspect into custody. Police arrested a second man soon after. The two men arrested, Lonnell and Donnell Hart, face armed robbery charges, according to NBC4.com.

Police describe the female suspect as a black woman who is possibly in her teens, NBC4.com reported.

The store employee was not seriously injured in the robbery, while one officer injured himself after slipping on a patch of ice, according to NBC4.com.
