CORRECTION from April 12

A headline accompanying a jump of an article titled "Student safety top priority abroad" incorrectly stated "AU doesn't buy insurance for students studying abroad." In reality, while AU does not purchase the specific SOS type of insurance mentioned in the article, it has "always purchased health insurance for our students that covers accidents and other medical emergencies, that includes medical evacuation when required," according to AU Abroad Director Sara Dumont.

Furthermore, the article stated that the AU Abroad "Web site does not say whether the university has any additional emergency plans or procedures, or contracts with an outside security company such as International SOS." However, Dumont said AU does have specific emergency plans and procedures for AU students studying abroad that "are not standardized ... because each such situation needs to be assessed individually, and it is the entirety of the situation that will determine what are the best steps to take for our students," Dumont said in an e-mail on April 5.

The Eagle sincerely apologizes for these errors.
