Coach Jones Named to Silver Anniversary All-American Team
Men's basketball head coach Jeff Jones was named to the 2007 National Association of Basketball Coaches Silver Anniversary All-American Team, NABC officials announced.
Jones, a starting point guard at the University of Virginia, is second in school history in assists, with 598.
He also led the team to a record of 102-28 in his four years on campus, including a National Invitational Tournament title in 1980.
Jones is now in his seventh season at the helm of the Eagles, leading the team to the Patriot League Semifinals this past season.
Fennell named PL Track Athlete of the Week
Brendan Fennell was named Patriot League Athlete of the Week this past week for his efforts in the Bucknell Outdoor Classic.
Fennell broke his own school record in the 5000 meters during that meet, qualifying for the NCAA Regionals in the process.
Fennell has now set personal records in the 800, 1500 and 5000 meter races,
Bell and Vida earn PL Lacrosse Honors
Defender Caitlin Bell and goalkeeper Kristine Vida were named PL Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the second time the pair have been honored this season.
Bell posted a game-high four turnovers in the recent 17-6 victory over Bucknell. She is second on the team in caused turnovers, with 20, a number that ranks her third in the league.
Vida made 12 saves on 18 shots to pick up the win over the Bison. She is second in the league in groundballs with 43, as well as second in the league in saves, save percentage and saves per game.
